Born to a family of artists in London in 1860, Helena painted still life and genre images common to British life in the 1800's. Her most popular subjects were of children, cats and dogs. She was an illustrator of many children's books. She also exhibited at the Institute of Painters in water colours and at the Royal Academy, both in London, from 1881 to 1892. "Playtime" is a charming watercolour measuring 11"x 9". It is signed lower left and is mounted and framed in a quality gilt frame giving an overall size of 19"x 16".
