Arthur Reginald Smith (1871-1934) was a Skipton born landscape painter and was the son of a chemist. He studied art at evening classes at Keighley School of Art, and later worked there as a tutor. He exhibited over 400 works at the Fine Art Society, and had a solo show at the Society in 1914. He is now regarded as one of the finest Yorkshire watercolour painters.
"A Bridge in Wharfedale" is a lovely example measuring 13"x 8". It is signed lower left and is in the original gilt frame giving an overall size of 22"x 15".
