William Greaves (1852-1938) was born in Leeds and studied at Sheffield College of Art. He travelled and exhibited widely at galleries including the Royal Academy, Royal Cambrian Academy, Manchester and Liverpool. He worked mostly in oils and his subjects include landscapes in and around Wharfedale in Yorkshire and Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire.
"Leading Hay, East Keswick" is a watercolour measuring 9"x 13" It is signed lower right and is dated 1931. It is mounted giving an overall size of 14"x 18". It is not framed.
