Fred Spencer, the renowned still life watercolour painter exhibited between 1891 and 1924 at galleries including the Royal Academy, the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool and other public and private galleries. The present painting "Still life with Books" is a fine example of his most sought after subjects. It measures 6" x 9" and is signed lower right. It is in the original gilt frame giving an overall size of 14"x 17" and has a nice old label for "J.Pratt & Sons, Art Dealers, Derby" on the back.
