Tom Dudley (1857-1935) was born in York and first trained as an architect. He took lessons from William James Boddy and is known for his townscapes mainly painted in watercolours. His work was shown in public and private galleries throughout the U.K.

"Fountains Abbey" is a good unusually large example of his work. Measuring 21"x 14" it is signed lower left and is framed in a good quality old gilt frame giving an overall size of 32"x 24". A lovely old picture of Fountains Abbey in Yorkshire.
