Tom Dudley (1857-1935) was born in York and first trained as an architect. He took lessons from William James Boddy and is known for his townscapes mainly painted in watercolours. His work was shown in public and private galleries throughout the U.K.

"Whitby" is a nice little watercolour measuring 9"x 6". It is signed lower left and inscribed with the title "Whitby" and is mounted into the original gilt frame giving an overall size of 16"x 12".
