William Greaves (1852-1938) was born in Leeds and studied at Sheffield College of Art. He travelled and exhibited widely at galleries including the Royal Academy, Royal Cambrian Academy, Manchester and Liverpool. He worked mostly in oils and his subjects include landscapes in and around Wharfedale in Yorkshire and Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire.
"The Sheep Fold, Winter Feeding" is an attractive oil on canvas by Greaves. Measuring 18"x 24" the painting is signed lower right and is framed in a hand made gilt frame giving an overall size of 24"x 30".
