John Henry Inskip was a landscape painter who exhibited from 1886 at the Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists and other important galleries. He was an Honorary Member of the Old Cheltenham Fine Art Society and an occasional writer on art criticism. His work is held  in many collections and Galleries including the Panett Gallery, Whitby (‘The Mill at Canterbury') and Rochdale Art Gallery (‘Walmer' and ‘Whitstable'). He lived and painted in Scarborough for many years. "A Cottage Holding, North Yorkshire" is a charming example of Inskip's work. It measures 20"x 28" and is framed in a quality hand made frame giving an overall size of 28"x 35". On the reverse is the title in the artist's hand and his Scarborough address.
