Gilbert Foster "The Duck Pond, Martham" oil painting

William Gilbert Foster (1855-1906) was a senior member of the Staithes Group of artists. He exhibited widely and spent many years living and painting at Runswick Bay on the Yorkshire coast.

The present painting "The Duck Pond, Martham" is a lovely oil painting on canvas measuring 10"x 16". It is signed lower right and is framed giving an overall size of 16"x 22". The painting also has the inscription "Willows and Pond" and "The Duck Pond Martham, Norfolk" and also has a note of the artists' address on the back: "Gilbert Foster, Beechwood, Halton, Leeds."
