Donald Wood (1859-1953) was a British painter of horses, dogs, sporting scenes and landscapes. He entered the painting "Jodhpur Ponies Ready for the Second Chukker" to the 1932 Los Angeles Art Competition. His obituary in The Times made particular mention of "Luxembourg Gardens" and "A la Crémerie, Rassay". Wood exhibited work in London and the provinces and his paintings are now in good collections throughout the world.

This view of "Whitby from Station Square" is an oil painting on canvas measuring 12"x 16". It is signed lower right, dated 1935 and is framed giving an overall size of 17"x 21".
