Ernest Dade (1838-1936) was a member of the Staithes Group of artists. Based in Scarborough for much of his life Dade was known for painting coastal scenes, mostly in watercolour. He exhibited widely throughout the U.K. including works at the at Royal Academy, Liverpool and Manchester. His work is now held in many good public and private collections and his paintings are much sought after. "Stalham, Norfolk" is a good example of Dade's work. The watercolour measures 7"x 9". It is signed and inscribed with the title lower left and is framed, giving an overall size of 13"x 15".
